How to Chose a Rug

We all know a room is not completed without rug!

It goes without saying that a rug is a fundamental item to finish off your design, as they have the power to complete our scheme and anchor the room.

But don’t you think sometimes choosing a rug can be overwhelming as there are so many, different sizes, shapes, colours and materials!

Yes, choosing a rug is important, but not an easy task.

But don’t worry I’m here to help you and I hope with this blog I can guide you to buy the perfect rug for your space!

So here a list of things to consider before buying your rug:

1.Size

The first mistake to avoid is buying a rug too small for a room! If you buy a rug for the living room ideally you want the legs of your furniture to sit on the rug, if the rug is positioned in the dining space, it should cover the area where the chairs will be, including when they are pulled out. If the rug is going into the bedroom, it would be nice to cover the space where you are getting off the bed, for the ultimate cozy sensation!

2.Materials

This is one of the first thing you will be choosing. Based on where the rug is going you have to chose different materials.

Is the rug in a hight trafficked area of your house? Then why not opting for a wool or a jute rug, easier to clean and durable, not mentioning very fashionable at the moment!

Is the rug in the bedroom? In this case you can chose a material less practical and more lush! Cotton, Silk and a high pile rug will do a great job to achieve a luxurious and cozy feeling.

3.Colour Palette

Use the rug either as a statement piece or a cohesive item to complete the room. Always have in mind your colour palette and the feeling you want to give your room. In my designs I like to add a touch of colour with the accessories and the rug to pick up the accent of my schemes.

Now, I hope my short list was useful to get you started with your rug shopping! Enjoy and I hope you don’t get lost in the rug world!
